Progress reports going home next week - promote "Parent Portal" online grade access - only print reports for students that do not have access to a computer. Use phone system or put ad in newspaper telling parents that progress reports will not be printed unless specifically requested in writing. This would save money this year and also prepare parents for next year when this will be a necessity. The parent portal is an excellent tool and the best part is you can keep up with your child's progress all semester long, not just during progress report time or when report cards are sent home.
Paperless - more on the web/computer screen/overhead/student writing
Restrict printing/copying to reasonable amount per student/teacher - charge for overuse
Cost survey electricity use on weekends for facility rentals
Eliminate courtesy busing
4 day school week - 10 hour day
Eliminate block schedule at high schools
Eliminate Kaplan
Student-created Reading Counts tests instead of purchasing them
Reduce online subscriptions that are used infrequently
Purchase class sets of textbooks only
Make less days of school
